and hi!

i'm not an idiot, not even the slightest.
for purposes prior to your petty grudge, i've installed web trackers to various sites of mine.
funny now though, yours is pretty much the constant visitor.
still.
i said my sorry's- stated my side, yet you refuse to believe me.
that isn't my issue.

best,

Wildwood/Cape May/Lewes

Oh, the weekend went too fast!

We left Saturday morning around six. It was a really quick 3 days. Got a whole lot of sun, ate a whole lot of delicious food, caught in the rain on our bike ride from Cape May back to Wildwood- where then we spent half the day cooped up in our room since the car was blocked in, and our only source of transportation was our bicycles.
Visited Cape May twice, the second time we took the Ferry over to Delaware to visit Cape Henlopen State Park. Plenty of pictures.
Got back home late Monday night after a quick visit with Steve's mother and sister.

Now yesterday and today I am sick with sun poisoning- yuck!
I laid around the house yesterday, not accomplishing much of anything.

I had to come home early from work today because I was completely miserable. I stopped by CVS and bought lots of Powerade so I can stock up on electrolyte's.
Napped for about 2 hours, and now here I am. I've touched up on a few pics- you can find them at mistyblankenship.com in the Gallery II section.
I'm too lazy to update them here right now, maybe in a day or so when I have more to put up.

For now, it's back to the couch!

Nice weekend :)

We are Cape May bound, early tomorrow morning. The plan is to leave around 4am. (yea, right!)
Can't wait to come back with a butt-load of pics!

Just a few random ones that i'm not sure if i've uploaded yet or not.

I'm getting so busy lately, that I don't even have time to really update much of anything. I'm behind on editing.
Work is going well. Hopefully this weekend i'll have a day to catch up a bit.
There are some really nice changes in the works lately, so hopefully everything can kinda just pan out and blend in with one another.
See ya Tuesday!

Pacem In Terris- Frederick Franck

I visited this place yesterday that I just can't seem to get off my mind.

It's a retreat, dedicated to peace and art, created by a man named Frederick Franck. The name of this beautiful place is Pacem in Terris, which is Latin for Peace On Earth.
Franck was a sculpturer, author and painter. After he passed away in 2006, his family opened up his property as an art exhibit.
On 6 acres, tucked in the little back hills of Warwick, and running along side the Wawayanda River, is this special place that just truly amazed me.

You'd have to visit it to really get the sense of peacefulness in which Franck had created from his vision. Trails wind in and out of this property, and along the way is just some really fascinating steel sculptors and shrines he's put together over the years. There's also a few smaller rustic sheds on the property that have some of his original paintings and stained glass art work in, open for anyone to walk in and view.

I got to the place just as they were opening and introduced myself to the elder man who takes care of the property. I asked him if there was anything I needed to know before I began my walk through. All he told me is that I might want to leave my camera in the car the first time, that way I can really get a sense on what it is I'm looking at, instead of being busy taking pictures.

Of course I did not follow his advice, though I did refrain from pulling my camera out too much.

There is nothing more that I love, than nature and art mixed together. I adore being outside, and I am very fond of any type of artistic expression. To top it off, it rained! That's what made my day even better, was the heavy overcast and few scattered raindrops hitting my skin throughout my hour and a half visit. Listening to the river rushing along side my journey down these little twisty-turny foot beaten paths- the pleasing melody of the singing birds in the trees and little ground creatures rustling around.
I was in heaven!

I snapped a few pictures, one of which I am convinced is Frederick Franck himself- a little white caterpillar (I believe it's a Hickory Tussock Moth), that just hung out on one of the erected steel sculptors. Ironically, the sculptor was right near where Franck is buried! Yes, they buried him on his own property!

So, that was my peace of mind yesterday. Definitely something I needed to start this week out with. I can't wait to go back and visit again, though I have a lot of time strain so I'm not sure when that will even be.

To anyone local- A Must See!!!

Blue's Style.

know this girl
she ain't got not a talent of her own
just grabbin ideas from everybody else
she may come to know.
n'she probably don't know, but i'm sure she do now
i'm a'watchin her every move- keepin' my eye out.

one day she'll crash, she'll crash- burn burn burn.
then all the people will see
the insecurity, but i'll be
the shadow a'waitin'
but right now seems i'm just a'waitin' my turn.

you ain't got nothin' that nobody's done had before
so don't think you're a'something special
that just came a'walkin through that door.
n'stop using sorry excuses
to discard what you don't want no more.

Updates & Kudos

I came up with a cute idea for a greeting card line. I even figured out the series title for them as well. Hopefully I can come up with some free time and really get into creating them... I have one finished so far! I just have to get the rest of them done, and order some test cards to make sure printing/alignment and all that is perfect.

I'm still collecting work from different folders to create some pretty artsy Christmas cards for this year, and I'm hoping to have them out by October so those who want them will have their chance on getting them.

Steve and I have a long weekend ahead of us in a couple weeks, hopefully I can take advantage of 2 of those days to get working on this. We're heading down to Cape May for lots of bike riding, beach lounging and military history lessons.
He picked up a little Sony Cyber shot for me yesterday, to replace my Canon 780 that was ruined while we were in Key West. I've learned my lesson, and I'll be taking better care of this little guy!

I have a lot of work created, but waiting for the right time before I release it out. I'm not quite sure what I want to do with it as of yet.

It's funny to me when I get requests for prints, and people comment on how excited they are to "have a Misty Blankenship hanging on their wall". I'm very modest when it comes to my work, and I have always been. This had originally started out as my outlet, something I did for myself on the side to kill my boredom, or escape from the craziness of life. I never thought I'd be so involved with getting it out to the public.... or even enjoying doing so for that matter! Through out the years, I've never even really considered myself as a "photographer", I'd always correct someone when they'd call me that, telling them that "I'm not a photographer- I'm just into photography."
It's tough to be in a position as a "photographer", having your own "way" of how you work and trying to succeed as a professional. There's a lot of hustling/bending/compromising of your creative means to get yourself out there. There isn't a huge market for fine art photography- but somehow I've managed to work that to my advantage. I think if you stick true to who you are, what you do and what you're good at, then eventually you end up rising out of the crowd in your own way, despite how quickly or slowly you've gotten yourself there.
I never gave up the creative media I know I'm good at. I do enjoy different approaches and types of photography, but fine art is what I've always favored.

So. Just a quick thanks to everyone who has supported me along the way :) The criticism, the praise, the pushing.
Thanks everyone :)

BlackBird

Sometimes, I'm not quite sure the potential of a photo. Most times, I play with them for some time before I'm able to produce results that I like. Other times, I have in mind what I'd like to accomplish and I'm able to spit something out quick.

Using a photo as a reference, I changed this into a painted print using a variety of softwares/tools. I wish I would have paid more attention to the process I used, I'd like to try this technique on other photos.
