The tree is up!

Sunday

I get quietly excited in the mornings when I have coffee brewing. The gurgling noise that the pot makes, and how louder it gets towards the end. I always let it set a few extra minutes so it gets really hot on the hot plate.
Work today, and then god knows what when I get home. Painting? Making decorations for the tree? Photo coloring or working on the family project? I'm still overly tired from yesterday. So many little things need to be done, but I just don't have the time or energy. I love having my desktop, but I sure do wish I had a laptop that was loaded with all my editing software. Sitting in this room for hours on end is making me crazy!

I snuck in another photo coloring last night before bed.

11.26.11

I started a family project- Steve and I were given tons of old photos from the 40's to go through. They are pictures of his father when he served in the military, and of his family. Right now, I'm in the process of uploading them to a Facebook page I made for his family, so they can all see these photos that they probably have never seen before.
It's a tedious process- for some reason my scanner isn't recognizing my computer, so I have to scan the photos in groups onto a memory card, and then transfer them to my pc. After they are uploaded there- I have to crop them, do minor color correction, etc.
Well, for the first time I experimented with hand coloring a photo (digitally), and wow! I'm addicted!! It's so cool to bring color to these old photographs. It really brings them to life! I can't wait until I'm done with the uploading project, so I can work on coloring these photos!!!

Here's a couple offhand!

My Thanks

I'm thankful for so many things this year. Thankful for my family and friends back home- thankful for my family and friends I have here in New York.
For my love, Steve- I'm so thankful that we finally found one another and that we have so many happy years to look forward to.
Thankful for where I've been, and where I'm going! Thankful for the support of so many people- I truly appreciate all the encouragement and love.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Count your blessings today, because all of us have at least one thing to be thankful for!

Now I must go slave over the stove...

Book Re-release

A very few of you may already know that I had self published a book back in 2005. The Notebook Diaries- A Photo/Journal Memoir. The book is a collection of poems that I had written over a period of a decade- they are very personal and were always kept very private.

This was a project that started out being something only for myself- My intentions were never to release this book out to the public. However, I was convinced by someone close to me at the time that I should allow it to be made available to everyone- so for a brief period, I had made that decision.

Though after realizing that the book wasn't entirely ready for release, I retired it. There were several issues that needed to be resolved before anyone's eyes had the chance to see it.
By the time I had retired the book- I once again stood my ground on not wanting these poems to be made public to anyone.

Six years later I have decided to revise the book and re-release it. This has been a decision in the making for the past several months. There's been a lot of work into revising it already, but finally I have just about come to the end, and the book "The Notebook Diaries- A Memoir" will be made available- with changes- A final product of what this book should have been in the first place. I'm hoping to have this all together and avail for purchase by the new year.

A little about this book, for wondering minds: I've been into writing poetry for as long as I can remember- writing has always been an outlet for me. It was my escape from my not-so-pleasant surroundings as a teenager. Getting lost in my own mind was something I did often. These poems were my way of coping, trying to keep the negative influences of the outside world far away from me. They're harsh, they're honest and they're me, a thousand times over. Allowing anyone to see these is like opening up my personal diaries and showing them to strangers. These are my diaries, they just happen to be disguised as poems.
So- hopefully some of you will be looking forward to this when it's time for the re-release!
