Where's Misty?

Due to pc issues (that really isn't as severe as I originally thought) I've taken a hiatus from anything photography related. I still access Facebook through my phone almost every day, just to pass time or catch up on my news feed. I've been using my husbands laptop for light surfing- being careful not to indulge in my regular crazy internet surfing. Just watching a lot of netflix, and doing some house hunting. (ugh! can you say *stressful*??)

All in all, I think I'm liking the break from the internet/photo world. I'm starting to feel ... normal? I don't read the news first thing in the morning anymore- which is great because then my start of the day isn't influenced by anything negative. (I didn't realize how reading negative news every morning was really making me grumpy!) I get to be normal me now, instead of focusing on what photos needed editing, or updates that needed to be posted... etc. It's sort of liberating!

A short vacation is in the near future- Even though for the past several weeks I've started to feel like I have been on vacation- but I will have photos from that to be posting. Looks like we'll be visiting Cape May again (yaaaayyyy!!!)

Thanks to anyone who has been following the blog/facebook page. I do assure you that I will be jumping head first back into my photo/blog updates sometime in the future. Just hang tight!

Ready Set Snap- Photography Club Meeting.

Anyone in the area looking for something to do this coming Monday night? Well do you have a camera, and wanna know how to use it?? Meet us at Pennings Farm in Warwick Monday night from 7-9pm. The first club meeting is free, and then if you like what you see, and want to join- it's only 10 bucks a month! You get loads of information, tips and hands on experience from a professional photographer, Devin Kirschner. Even if you can't make the meetings, they're all recorded live on video, and then played back on the website (but that is only viewable to paid members.)
And if you live too far away, you can always join and then watch the videos on the website- http://www.devinshows.com

Beginners, advanced- it's just a place for all lovers of photography to get together and learn. Please, come out and see for yourself!!

This months meeting, myself and another fellow member (who works in Graphic Design) have been asked by Devin to give a presentation of our work as a means of inspiration to the other members in the club. We will be showing a small example of the basics of editing through various photos.
How exciting is that!??! It's going to be good stuff, so stop by!

07.09

Pc is taking a dump- eh. Not happy about that. I have limited use now, the virus keeps playing random music and tries to reconfigure my browser. It succeed once, had to visit the pc dr twice and I had to restore it once myself. Soon it will be stripped from all internet usage, and used only for editing purposes. For now I'm dependent on my phone and my husbands laptop- but the only thing I do on his is watch foreign horror movies on Netflix. Hells yea! I don't want to taint his laptop with virus's.
I've gotten a lot of editing done, that's a bright side!

Other exciting news:
Myself, along with another member- has been asked to participate as guest speakers in our next photography workshop. We will be discussing some photoshop editing basics to the crowd. Some of my work will even be showcased- it's going to be an honor! Can't wait, hopefully it really inspires people.
There will be more on that workshop in a couple weeks, I may even have a video to post!

It's the HOLIDAY people, the HOLIDAY!

Ok, seriously?
I just had to pop into town on a personal errand, making a pit stop at a particular store where I didn't even make it one step into the building before I heard from behind me "What!?!? The bank isn't open today!?!", and not in a jokingly type of tone. A serious, annoyed tone.
I ignored it. Like I usually do when I'm off the clock- as if to say "I'm not at work, don't bother me with petty work issues right now... IT'S ME TIME!!!"
Ok, so I didn't really react that way. But I wanted to!!!

Instead I just... ok, I ignored it for about 3, maybe 4 seconds before I casually replied with a "Who?? Me?? *turns head in both directions and points at self* You talking to meeee?"

"The bank is closed!!!" hissed said customer.

"Yea,... I dunno..... pfft.. that dang bank...." *Insert eye roll* In my mind I was envisioning the Shallow Hal scene where Hal raises both hands up to either side of his face and does the *coo coo* *coo coo* while scrolling his eyes back and forth, imitating a coo coo clock.

I should have. But I didn't. Damn how I regret not doing that now! I just walked away instead. Because, after all, I was scared!! I felt threatened at the sound of angry hisses and snarls! I seriously felt my life was in danger, and I had to either fight or flight.

Yea, no. I particularly like to be *assaulted* about banking hours, or lack thereof, while I'm in my street clothes.
I should sue. Or wear a badge on my shirt when I'm off clock that warns people that I have the right to sue if approached about non-leisure related issues whilst in casual clothing. People should be more careful on how they approach others!

Anyone know a good lawyer?!

This one time... there was a bat in my apartment....

...And I hosed it down with a water spray bottle until it fell helplessly to the floor- where I then proceeded to snap pictures of it.

What a memorable night that was. The first bat that was found in my old apartment around 10 pm one hot August night, sadly enough, didn't make it out alive. He/she ended up knocked out cold via broom, and effortlessly flushed down the pooper. (Thanks to my brave, elderly landlord.)
The second bat came at around 3 am. I woke up to a strange flapping sound.... as if maybe something... say, a bat, was flying around the room?? This one survived getting binged up by the ceiling fan before it decided to hang out (literally) on the molding that ran at the top of the walls.
I didn't know that's where it was, so to be on the safe side I ended up crawling on my hands and knees to the bathroom all the way across the apartment, with a blanket wrapped around every square inch of my body. After assessing the bat wasn't in the bathroom, I locked myself in there.
And I waited.
For what?!?
Hell, I didn't know... but I wasn't about to expose myself just so the darn thing would get all tangled in my hair, or bite me on the neck and give me rabies.... or even turn me into a vampire!

Actually, I don't think I waited long. I ended up getting to the light in the living room and finding that the bat was hung up, ready to settle in for the wee early hours of the morn.
I tried to sleep in the bathroom, on the floor, for the rest of the night- but it was just too hot. So eventually I mustered up enough courage to try and kill this thing. Or trap it. Or shoo it out the door.
Anything, really.

But one thing I did know about bats is that I knew they had to swoop to be able to fly. So at around 4:30 in the morning the dangling thing was pretty content where it was and didn't feel like flying around anymore.
So after throwing the broom and other random things at it for about 45 minutes, I experimented with a squirt bottle- ended up aggravating it enough to where it just sorta flopped to the floor and in a sleepy stupor. I'd poke it with the broom handle, and it would just sorta open it's mouth in a yawn type of jester and let out a little squeak. I did this a lot until I was pretty convinced the bat was helpless and definitely not a threat. All this little guy really cared about was getting some sleep!

So yea, what else would someone like me do at that point???

I took pictures of it, of course!! And then I covered it with my big white plastic trash can with piles of books and heavy things on top of it, so I knew it wouldn't start flapping around and flying away with the can over its head.
I never went back to sleep. Boy was that was an interesting day at work!
